What is an evacuation chair?

An evacuation chair is a specialist piece of equipment that has been specifically designed to enable the safe escape of a mobility impaired person from a building during and emergency situation.  

Tracked evacuation chairs enable the evacuee to be strapped safely and comfortably within, whilst trained personnel push the chair to a place of safety in a similar way to a wheelchair. The tracked chairs enable safe transit down stairways, therefore making them ideal for multi-level buildings.

What is the difference between a transport chair and evacuation chair?

The transport chair is specifically designed for same-floor usage and is not suitable to carry a impaired person down a set of stairs. The evacuation chair is specifically designed to bring a person safely down the stairs.

Can the evacuation chair be used by a single person?

Yes. The evacuation chairs are designed for a single operator to use. However, we do recommend, for best practice, that at least two people are available as one can then assist with the opening of doors, check for any potential hazards ahead.

Is training to operate the evacuation chair necessary?

Although the evacuation chairs are easy to use, when it comes to an emergency situation we believe that professional training can further enhance how effective your evacuation equipment can be used in an emergency situation.

Can the evacuation chair be used to go up a case of stairs?

No. The Evacusafe evacuation chairs are only designed to go downstairs, which is the most common emergency situation.

What are the shipping costs?

The shipping costs depend on the order volume and delivery address. Please fill in the contact form and you will be gladly provided with these costs.

What is the delivery time?

All the ARKY products are well-stocked. Within Europe the lead time is 2-5 working days. We have a warehouse in New Jersey as well, to ensure fast delivery of selected products throughout the US and Canada.

What is the warranty?

A warranty of 2 years applies to all products of ARKY.

Are all the ARKY AED backpacks able to carry an AED?

Yes, the backpacks are a perfect solution to take the AED with you. They are perfectly suitable for events and sports clubs. There are two types available, a compact and a large model.
